Urban Environmental Planning Basics
15
I can help you plan local level green spaces that not only help the needs of the neighborhood or city block that you live on but also work with you climate regime and native flora/fauna. I can offer advice on how to navigate local laws and rules to get your garden/green-space idea off the ground and I can advice you on which species to incorporate to maximize the effects you are going for.
Whether is an urban garden on a barren lot that you want to create in your city or a restoration project for a riparian wetland I can give you some valuable pointers on where to start and where to go. I know how to work with public needs and desires but I also know what is best for native environments across north america. I cannot get your idea to work, that is up to you and your passion, but if you find yourself stuck and unsure of where to go next that is what I am here for!
Training & Qualifications
I have worked on a suburban wetland restoration project in the past and my education has an emphases on social environmental work. I know how to work with small scale local governments to start projects like this and I have a very broad knowledge of the plant species and their interaction in the US and surrounding countries.
My focus is on naturalizing areas but still making them ideal for human use and development. If you have the same focus then my experience and expertise will assist you greatly.
Availability & Preferences
For larger projects or early development stages of planing I will need time to help you effectively. I prefer if you contact me on a Friday and if you wish to speak a weekend is best. However if it a smaller level of help that you require anytime is great.
