Bokashi Composting lesson
25
Bokashi is a method of composting that is suitable for indoor composting! It is an anaerobic process, which means you want to keep air OUT (rather than regular composting, where you need to turn or stir the compost to incorporate air.) In addition to being easier and cleaner than regular composting, it is also faster. No more waiting until next year to use your compost! The serum and grains take a couple months to make but after that, your compost goes from your kitchen to your garden in about a month. You can buy a Bokashi bucket for around $45-60, or you can make your own for less than half the price. Not only will I give you instructions for making your own composting bucket, I'll also teach you how to make the bokashi grains you need AND the serum needed to make the grains!
I'll give you the instructions for everything you need (making the serum, fermenting the grains, making your composting bucket and how to do the composting) in one easy to follow document. After that, you are free to message me with questions at any time.
Training & Qualifications
I had a bokashi composting system set up and running under my sink for years. I started with a system I purchased at a health food store but when I wanted to expand (so I could be filling a new one while the other one was aging) I decided to see if I could do it myself. I ended up with a 3 unit rotation, which meant I had fresh compost for the garden every week.
